The Avila, known for more than 55 years as Avila Beach Golf Resort, sits three miles off Highway 101 where the estuary meets Avila Bay. It brings together golf, dining, live music, weddings and events. The par-72, 6,500-yard championship course opened in 1969 and was designed by Olin Dutra and Desmond Muirhead. The front nine winds through oak-lined valleys and the back nine crosses the tidal estuary near San Luis Obispo Bay.
Off the course, Mulligans Bar & Grill serves coastal comfort food and a full bar, with live music every weekend. The renovated Beach Club deck looks out over the course to the ocean at sunset. The Avila also hosts oceanview concerts, Beach Party weekends, weddings, holiday parties and private celebrations. Tee times open daily from 7 a.m. and can be booked up to 14 days ahead, online or by phone.
