Do I need a permit to have my wedding on the beach in Avila?
All wedding ceremonies held on Avila Beach require a permit be issued by the Port San Luis Harbor District. Please call 805-595-5400, extension 0 or visit the Harbor District’s website for additional information.
Can I reserve picnic tables at Avila Beach?
The picnic tables at Avila Beach are on a first come, first serve basis. There are 6 picnic tables on the beach and a few more in the Avila Beach Community Park.
Is there RV camping allowed in the Avila Beach area?

Do I need a fishing license?
A fishing license is not required when fishing from either the Avila Pier or Harford Pier. If you decide to do some surf fishing, however, you must obtain a fishing license. Various types of fishing licenses are available from either of the sportfishing offices.
Are dogs allowed on the beach?
Dogs are allowed on Avila Beach (leashed) before 10am and after 5pm. Dogs are not allowed on Avila Beach between the hours of 10am – 5pm. They are allowed all day/everyday (leashed) on the Olde Port beach, next to the Harford Pier.
Are vehicles allowed on the beach?
Vehicles are not allowed on Avila Beach. There is a launch ramp available at Olde Port Beach for loading and unloading boats only. Vehicles may not be left on the beach.
Are there firepits on the beach?
No, the Port San Luis Harbor District fire rings on Olde Port Beach have been discontinued and bonfires are no longer allowed on the beach. Public safety, environmental and overall management concerns has led the District to discontinue this program. For more detailed information visit:

Does Avila Beach have a firework display on the 4th of July?
Avila Beach does not have a firework display. “Safe and sane” fireworks are not permitted on the beach. The closest 4th of July firework display is in Pismo Beach.
